ABOUT
With over 25 years of experience in hospitality and marketing,
Richie Romero is a nightlife fixture in NYC. Romero got his start working for Peter Gatien as a promoter at Limelight. He quickly ascended to the role of promotional director under Steve Adelmen and oversaw marketing for Limelight, Palladium, Club U.S.A., and Tunnel. With this hands-on experience, Romero founded Clique, a marketing and events company that worked with restaurants, nightlife, and hotel clients in New York, Las Vegas, and Miami.
Throughout his career, Romero founded B’Lo Lounge (2002) in Chelsea, and 151 Lounge (2000), in addition to partnering with Howard Stein and Stratis Morfogen at Aubar (2003). Romero partnered with Mark Packer and Sergio Riva to open The Diner (2003). Romero became a director and partner at Butter Group, known for being the force behind 1OAK and Up&Down where he spent over a decade (2009-2020). During that time, Romero had a full circle moment when he returned to Limelight to become a founder and partner at Jue Lan Club in 2015.
He is currently a partner in the parent company SimpleVenue (which owns Sushi by Bou, Sushi Suite, and Omakaseed) and serves as Chief Hospitality Officer. Simplevenue has locations in NY, NJ, Chicago, and South Florida, with several new markets on the horizon. Romero is also a partner in hand roll hotspot Temakase and Hidden Lane bar in Gramercy, as well as being the co-founder of Coming Soon Food Group (CSFG).
Additionally, Romero partnered Zazzy’s, which boasts locations in NYC, Colombia, Bali and more
Romero returned to nightlife when he partnered with Yang Gao to open Nebula, the largest nightlife venue in NYC. Most recently Romero was part of the team that brought Hearsay NY to life.
